The Seahawks move into first place in the NFC West thanks to the 49ers' loss

Sunday was a fantastic day for the Seattle Seahawks. With the 34:14 win against the Atlanta Falcons, they not only achieved their most complete victory of the season, but also regained sole possession of first place in the NFC West.

I understand that most people are pretty tired of seeing the Kansas City Chiefs win so many games, but when they play the San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs gain a whole new fan base in the Pacific Northwest. Kansas City traveled to the Bay Area to face the 49ers in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIII in February.

The Chiefs took care of business on the road, defeating San Francisco 28-18, and honestly, it wasn't as close as the final score would suggest. Although it was a defensive affair for three quarters, Kansas City went into overdrive in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs had built a 28-12 lead and San Francisco didn't score until 1:14 remained on the clock.

It was a particularly brutal day for Brock Purdy, who 12-year-olds everywhere would love to see. Purdy completed 17 of 31 passes for 212 yards, no touchdowns, but three interceptions.

Now San Francisco falls to 3-4 on the year and sits in second place in the NFC West. Los Angeles and Arizona are tied for last at 2-4, with the Cards holding a head-to-head tiebreaker against the Rams.
