The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers meet this Sunday in Week 7 in a rematch of February's exciting Super Bowl LVIII.

For the Chiefs, the 2024 season went more or less according to plan. Kansas City is off to a 5-0 start after a 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints before a Week 6 bye. The Chiefs have had their problems, falling behind in the first quarter in four of their five games. So far, with a strong defense and a versatile offense led by Patrick Mahomes, the defending champions have rattled off 11 straight wins (a streak that extends to Week 17 of the year 2023).

San Francisco hasn't had the same success, with a 3-3 record reflecting some inconsistency. Despite having a defense with 16 turnovers so far this season, the 49ers have scored 19 or more points in five games, forcing running back Christian McCaffrey, who was missing on offense, to score high and secure victories.

Last week's 36-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks was a good example of San Francisco doing just that, but losses to two NFC West rivals (the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals) are proof of that the 49ers are progress in the works. However, Mahomes says the Chiefs have “a lot of respect” for San Francisco and are expecting an extremely tough game this weekend.
