Toilet at Petaluma soccer field, youth league property damaged by suspected arson

(KRON) – Police in Petaluma are investigating suspected arson that destroyed a portable toilet and damaged property at the Petaluma Youth Soccer League early Monday morning.

When Petaluma police and firefighters arrived at the Lucchesi Park soccer field around 4:45 a.m., they found a portable toilet engulfed in flames. A nearby shipping container containing Petaluma Youth Soccer League property was threatened by the fire, police said.

Some of the youth league's shipping containers were damaged, authorities said.

The Petaluma Police and Fire Departments are conducting a joint arson investigation, “drawing on Petaluma FD's experience in fire science and Petaluma PD's familiarity with crime scene investigation and preparation of investigations for prosecution in the state courts.” Sonoma County is supporting,” officials said.

Suspected evidence was found at the crime scene, police said.
