Tom Brady's first move to the Raiders could be Bill Belichick's blockbuster

Could Tom Brady already be using his influence in Las Vegas?

There is already speculation about the Raiders' new minority owner, who received a royal welcome on Wednesday, and how much control he will have over the team going forward.

“I'll say this and won't elaborate, but people have told me that Brady's first step will be to ask Bill Belichick to become coach of the Las Vegas Raiders,” Barstool Sports' Kirk Minihane said in his self-proclaimed interview Show. “Two sources told me that. Two senior members of the Patriots organization told me that.”

Minihane has long been a fixture in the Boston sports scene, working as a columnist for the Lowell Sun newspaper and having a radio show on WEEI before joining Barstool.

It would be surprising to see Brady have that kind of power immediately in Las Vegas, as the Raiders just installed former Giants Super Bowl-winning linebacker Antonio Pierce as their full-time head coach last offseason.

It's a worrisome start for Pierce, however, as the Raiders are 2-4 this season.

Pierce previously told reporters that some of his players were making “business decisions” and that the team would also begin making business decisions, meaning some players could be jettisoned.

This week, Davante Adams made the first of those business decisions when he was traded to the Jets.

Pierece also upended his preseason quarterback decision, benching veteran Gardner Minshew for second-year signal-caller Aidan O'Connell before last week's 32-13 loss to the Steelers.

Pierce was also criticized for doing the “dumbest thing you'll see all season” when he chose not to play a fourth-and-1 from his opponent's 43-yard line despite trailing by six points in Week 1 on the Chargers.

If Pierce is indeed coaching his final games for the team, the Raiders could very well seek Belichick as well, although there will be plenty of other candidates for the job.

Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has his pick of almost any job he wants this offseason, and former Titans coach Mike Vrabel is also expected to be in the mix.

Brady and Belichick won six Super Bowls together as part of a dynasty in New England before a seemingly contentious split led to the future Hall of Fame quarterback moving to Tampa Bay.
