San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke during a conference call with reporters on Monday, a day after the team's 30-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Here's everything he said.

The transcript was provided by the San Francisco 49ers communications staff.

Opening comments:

“Okay guys, injuries from last night: (RB) Jordan Mason, he pulled the same shoulder, we'll evaluate this after the bye, (LB) Dee Winters is in concussion protocol, (WR) Deebo (Samuel Sr.) Had a rib and oblique strain, we'll do a scan next week after the bye, (CB) Renardo Green, ankle sprain, day to day only, (WR) Chris Conley, hamstring injury, week to week it. Go ahead.

Do you expect WR Jauan Jennings to be back after the bye?

“Yes, I do.”

Also, is it a trend for RB Christian McCaffrey to come back after the bye and potentially play against the Buccaneers?

“It depends on how this week goes. It's that he hasn't suffered any setbacks, so it looks like we're on the right track. But we'll get there, he'll hit hard this week while we're away and sort of simulate a few practice things for himself. And as long as everything goes well, hopefully we can train him again next week.”

How difficult was it to keep Christian McCaffrey in check and not make him work too hard to ensure his comeback was on schedule?

“I think it was difficult at first when we did it in training camp and then I felt like he would be ready for the first week. And then once we decided to put him on IR, I think it was pretty easy. That's why we did it.” We decided to do it because we knew it would take at least a month, so we turned it off for a while and now we're slowly rebuilding it and now hopefully it's going well.

So the plan would be to open his bonus training window this Monday?

“If everything continues to go well, if he has a good week this week.”

I'll stick with the running backs. What did you see from RB Isaac Guerendo and Jordan Mason yesterday?

“I thought they both played a good game. JP went down early and Isaac came in and upped the ante. I thought (RB) Patrick (Taylor Jr.) did a really good job coming in for us too. It was a real good game for the running backs.

Do you think Isaac Guerendo could be more of a running back? Not comparing him to Christian, but in a similar role?

“Yes, I also think very similarly to JP. Nobody's a Christian when it comes to the passing game, but neither of them is a guy who can't run routes or be a linebacker, and they both have that. “Good hands. This is something he is good at now and should get better at as he continues his work.

And are you seeing a steady increase in improvement from WR Ricky Pearsall compared to last game?

“Yeah, big deal. You could see it in training. You really see it every time you train with Ricky, just because he was so limited in his abilities. But he learns quickly. His stamina is getting better and he has a really natural feel for the game and now it's just a matter of getting a feel for our offense. And I think it's getting better every week.

I don't know if you allow yourself to step back and analyze things that way, but where do you think this team is at and how do you feel about being at it after eight games with nine games left to play have? , what this team is capable of?

“I feel like we are capable of doing anything else we put our minds to. I don't do that. I look at where our team is and where I think we can be and I don't think we're there yet. “I think there's a lot of things we need to improve on. But I think we have the people here who are capable of doing it better in the second half than in the first half.

How do you feel about special teams midseason? Is this something you'll evaluate during the bye? Think about special teams coordinator Brian Schneider and are there any alternatives a team can develop for special teams in the middle of the season?

“Yes, we evaluate special teams every week. There isn't much that will be done much differently in the bye. We could add one more game to what we've been evaluating all this time. I have no concerns Brian Schneider, if that's what you mean, I don't think it even occurred to me. No, that didn't cross my mind at all. Last night I thought we had a great challenge and that we did a really good job controlling (Dallas Cowboys WR KaVontae), who in my opinion was one of the biggest game changers In this game I've had to deal with a lot of things on special teams, a lot of guys have changed, a lot of young guys are replaying that we lost and we've had to replace them with new guys and work with a lot of different people. I expect we will get better as the year goes on. I know it wasn't good enough in that first half, but I thought last night was a step in the right direction and you're going to get better or worse and I expect us to get better.

Given the injuries at wide receiver and the looming deadline, how likely do you think it would be that you would tackle that position?

“It’s not necessarily just about tackling certain positions. You look at what’s available and what you think can help your team get better. Going forward, that’s something we’re always looking at.”

Is there an expectation for Christian to be back as soon as he gets back? That he will be advanced enough that you can do his normal workload?

“No, the expectation is to just see how he does when he comes back and then evaluate him when he leaves. Of course, the hope that everything will be back to normal and perfect is what we all strive for. But.” You have to implement this wisely and evaluate every day what we see with our own eyes, what he tells us, we are constantly working on that.

DB Deommodore Lenoir is on the rise this year. He has grown by leaps and bounds. What can you guys talk about, from the moment you had him as a rookie to how he's really become a really prominent elite high-end player?

“Yes, DMo was a real eye-catcher. He is exactly what you want in a 49ers player. He came into his first rookie camp and stood out. He got me fined for illegally jamming people too hard and posting it online. So I always have.” But he got off to a good start, made a few mistakes as a rookie and lost his confidence a little bit, I thought, in his rookie year he came back in the offseason. He was kind of obsessed with getting that job back and he's been a real stud to me ever since, getting better every year.

Do you have any idea if LB Dre Greenlaw is available? What kind of rough time frame is for him?

“No, we're talking about a lot of things and he's working on them, but I hate to give you a rough timeline because we're not entirely sure about that. I think once we get back from this bye week, I think he'll make a week-to-week decision on whether or not we should put him back in the training contract. But we'll see how it goes next week. We'll see when we get back from the bye week. I think once the bye week is over, we'll consider every week whether to bring him back or not because it's getting closer.”

CB Charvarius Ward came out for a few appearances yesterday. Is everything okay with him?

“Yes. That's him, I thought, I think he's played his best ball in the last two weeks. When he was hit, he strained his groin a little and had to have it checked out, but it wasn't a problem and he recovered.”

Can you please briefly explain to me the schedule for this week in terms of your activities? I know they need to have some time off, but how will the next few days go and when are you coming back?

“We have a long day ahead of us today to evaluate all of these things and finish this game. We can take our exciting team photo, which we have to take once a year for semantic reasons. Then we’ll come over tomorrow, they’ll do it.” a big workout with (head strength and conditioning coach) Dustin (Perry), our strength and conditioning coach. Then we break up and meet some more. We have a team meeting and then we have to create some NFL video guidelines that we all have to work out. And when we finish on Tuesday afternoon, they get about five days off. We come back and get additional training on Monday. The coaches are still working on a few things for a few days, but we’re all taking a little break from each other and coming back prepared for the stress that lies ahead.”
