USA vs. Mexico, friendly match 2024: time, TV schedule, streaming and lineups

The USA men's national team plays a big friendly match against their arch-rivals Mexico this evening. The USMNT earned a 2-0 win in Austin on Saturday night, while Mexico held Valencia to a 2-2 draw in an unofficial friendly in Puebla.

The USMNT's last away game against Mexico was in 2012 at Estadio Azteca, where the USMNT recorded a 1-0 win. To date, this victory remains the only victory the United States has recorded on Mexican soil, thanks to a goal from Michael Orozco Fiscal. They have not lost in Mexico since, with draws in World Cup qualifying in 2013, 2017 and 2022. They will be hoping to pick up a second win in Mauricio Pochettino's first away game as head coach. The teams last met in March, when the USMNT defeated Mexico 2-0 in the Concacaf Nations League final. The United States has not lost to Mexico since September 2019.

The game could also decide the USMNT's seeding for next month's Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals. Currently, the United States sits third in the Concacaf rankings behind Mexico and Canada, but they have a chance to overtake Canada if they win and Canada loses at home to Panama. They will also have to do it with 20 players as 5 players – Christian Pulisic (load management), Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Marlon Fossey and Zack Steffen (all minor injuries) – were sent back to their clubs early for rest and recovery.

These games are never friendlies and both teams will give their best tonight. Tune in and join the entire discussion!
