Vanderbilt-Alabama College Football Week 6 Score Prediction

Vanderbilt football returns home to FirstBank Stadium on Saturday after three weeks without a home game.

The Commodores (2-2, 0-1 SEC) face a formidable opponent in No. 2 Alabama (4-0, 1-0) in their SEC home opener. The Crimson Tide are coming off a win against Georgia. Vanderbilt didn't have a game last week and previously lost on the road to Missouri in its conference opener.

Coming into Saturday (3:15 p.m. CT, SEC Network), the Commodores are on a long losing streak, with 14 straight losses in the series and 24 straight losses using the original result of a retroactively lost game.

Vanderbilt went 55-3 in 2022 and hasn't scored a touchdown against the Crimson Tide since 2007 (the two teams have played just three times since then).

The Commodores will also be without defensive end Zaylin Wood for the second straight year due to injury.

Vanderbilt football history vs. Alabama

Vanderbilt is 19-62-4 all-time against Alabama. In the record books, the Commodores' last win was in 1993. However, that was a game that Vanderbilt originally lost, but was later awarded a win via forfeit when the Crimson Tide used an ineligible player. The Commodores' last field win in the series was a 30-21 win in 1984, and the last Vanderbilt win in Nashville was in 1969.

Alabama's big win against Georgia

Alabama's matchup last weekend with then-No. 1 Georgia came with great fanfare. The Crimson Tide got off to a 28-0 start, but the Bulldogs mounted a comeback in the second half and even took the lead at one point before Alabama came back and won.

It's possible that the Crimson Tide could have a somewhat disappointing game, but Vanderbilt isn't factoring that into its preparations.

Jalen Milrose isn't Alabama's only top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft

Led by quarterback Jalen Milroe, Alabama has five top-100 prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to Pro Football Focus. That list also includes three offensive linemen and a safety.

Milroe is also one of the favorites for the Heisman Trophy with 964 passing yards and 10 touchdowns as well as 273 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
