Former NFL linebacker and Tagovailoa family friend Manti Te'o believes Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will look to return to the field in part because of the “commitment” he feels to his teammates.

He revealed this in an interview with TMZ Sports published on Sunday, saying he believes Tagovailoa will “try to come back” after suffering a concussion in a game against the Buffalo Bills on September 12th.

“It's no surprise to me that he'll try,” Te'o said. “It’s just Tua being Tua. He loves the game. He feels a responsibility to his teammates. That's just who he is. He’s playing hurt.”

This came after the former NFL linebacker became quite emotional Good morning football the day after his friend was injured:

Concussions are always a concern for any player, but they are particularly concerning for Tagovailoa considering his recent history.

The Miami signalman suffered multiple concussions during the 2022 season, including one against the Cincinnati Bengals that sent him to the hospital and another against the Green Bay Packers that only became known after he stayed in the game and finished the game .

The NFL also changed its concussion policy this season after Tagovailoa suffered a hit during a game against the Bills.

Miami has struggled without him and is 1-3 overall and 0-2 since his absence. Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley played quarterback in his absence.

Te'o played in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears from 2013 to 2020. He is still best known for his starring roles during his college career at Notre Dame.
