With Hurricane Milton now largely in the state of Florida, Walt Disney World has advised resort guests to continue sheltering indoors.

In an update posted to the Walt Disney World Weather Updates website this morning, Disney says the following:

Walt Disney World and Vero Beach Resort Hotel Guests: Please continue to shelter indoors as we assess the impact of the storm. We'll let you know when it's safe to stay outdoors.

Walt Disney World's theme parks, water parks, amusements and Disney Springs are now closed through Thursday, October 10.

Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Springs are closed today, October 10, 2024. These include the Disney Springs parking garages, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park and the two mini golf courses. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has also been canceled for that evening and tickets for the event will be refunded.

Ticket expiration dates for partially used multi-day tickets will be adjusted to expire on October 11, 2025. Learn more about ticket validity after Hurricane Milton. Disney will also not enforce cancellation policies for dining and other experiences until further notice. Prepaid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.

Walt Disney World Transportation is temporarily unavailable, as is Minnie Van service.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are also temporarily closed. These accommodations are expected to remain closed until Sunday, October 13th.

Walt Disney World will continue to operate select dining options exclusively for guests staying at Disney Resort hotels. Guests are encouraged to check My Disney Experience for the latest information. Operating hours and availability may be adjusted if necessary without notice.

Disney also recommends planning ahead and visiting any food court or quick-service restaurant location to pre-order breakfast and lunch for today, October 10th.

The following activities are available to Disney Resort hotel guests:

  • Free Disney movies in your resort hotel room
  • Surprise character visits and more family fun in the lobby
  • Free play in the arcade from 4 p.m
  • Normal opening hours for fitness centers

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resor areas on October 5, when Hurricane Milton was still a tropical storm.

Because of the storm, Walt Disney World has suspended hotel reservations for October 9th and 10th. Park reservations are also blocked for these two days. Hotel cancellation and rebooking fees were waived for resort guests. Disney has extended its policies twice to accommodate those who had to adjust their plans due to the hurricane.

We saw cast members preparing for the storm around the resort on October 9th, including Magic Kingdom.

A curfew was imposed on parts of Walt Disney World yesterday, October 9th, and will be in effect until at least 10 a.m. Thursday.

Disney CEO Bob Iger posted safety wishes for Florida residents on social media ahead of the storm reaching the state.

It is estimated that Hurricane Milton could cost Walt Disney World $200 million.
