Watch surreal footage of Trump working at McDonald's

Former President Donald Trump made good on his promise to work a shift at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania on Sundays by tossing fries into an oil fryer and passing their orders through a drive-thru window to customers being screened by the Secret Service – perhaps the most bizarre publicity stunt of the election 2024 cycle.

“What's the logic behind that?” MSNBC host Alex Witt asked as footage of Trump played at a franchise in Feasterville-Trevose, north of Philadelphia. “I mean, we know the guy likes Big Macs and Filet o' Fish, but what's the point?”

“There’s no logic to this, it’s a stunt,” said her guest, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA). “As you know, he doesn’t appear to be well and has been involved in some really bizarre activities during this campaign.”

As Lee notes, Trump spent the day before his McDonald's publicity stunt talking about the late golf legend Arnold Palmer's penis during the first part of a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

CNN aired footage of an aide politely guiding Trump down the stairs to place and prepare an order of McDonald's French fries. The Republican presidential candidate wore what appeared to be a company-issued black apron with gold-yellow straps, while his white collared shirt, red hair and red tie rounded out an array of brand-friendly colors.

“Just a stunning video to start the day,” CNN reporter Danny Freeman said after clips aired of Trump dropping fries and working in the drive-thru.

As for the tortured logic of the stunt, Trump has repeatedly, without any evidence, accused Vice President Kamala Harris of lying about her job at McDonald's while attending Howard University in Washington, DC

Trump, who inherited family wealth and got his first job through his father's company, has a deep connection to the Golden Arches himself: one of love. He has long spoken of his enjoyment of fast food, and when he visited a McDonald's location in Ohio last year, he told employees, “I know this menu better than you.”

While attending a University of Alabama college football game last month, he ordered an overwhelming array of McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and pizza. In this case, he ordered two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches at Golden Arches.
