Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. Sam Houston State Bearkats Prediction, Odds and Tips

The Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky travel to Bowers Stadium in Huntsville, Texas on Wednesday to face the Sam Houston Bearkats in an important Sun Belt Conference game. The Hilltoppers got the better of UTEP last time out, winning 44-17 to cover 18.5 points while conceding the over (56). WKU is 5-0 ATS in its last five games since being beaten at Alabama to open the season. However, we are more interested in the offense, which has scored 20 or more points in each of the last five games but has allowed 20.0 PPG in the last four games.

Sam Houston's Bearkats are relatively new to the FBS, but they are making a big splash in the SBC this season. Sam Houston has five wins in six games and also defeated UTEP by a score of 41-21 in its last outing as it was a 10-point favorite to win the over (50). Point totals are up in the last two SBC games, and Sam Houston has scored 31 or more points in four straight games and five of six games. The defense has also allowed 30.0 PPG in the last two games, so expect a real Texas shootout on Wednesday night. The Bearkats' specialty is the running game, where they average 228.8 rushing yards per contest. Defensively, however, they are mediocre in both passing and running, allowing 23.8 PPG. WKU is terrible at running, but manages 278.8 yards per game and is also below average defensively. We should get a game in the 60s.
