Joan, a 61-year-old private school principal from Rockville, Maryland, was previously a contestant on Season 1 of The Golden Bachelor with Gerry Turner, where she was sent home in twelfth place in week 3 to care for her daughter who had a medical emergency.

Chock won The Golden Bachelorette after Joan sent home her fourth-place finisher, Jordan Heller, a 61-year-old sales manager from Riverwoods, Illinois, after Hometown Dates.

Her other two finalists, Guy Gansert, a 66-year-old emergency room doctor from Reno, Nevada, and Pascal Ibgur, a 69-year-old salon owner from Glencoe, Illinois, went home after fantasy suite dates. Guy was sent home by Joan, while Pascal eliminated himself because he wasn't in love with Joan, according to Reality Steve, who could not confirm who took third place and who was Joan's runner-up.

Reality Steve originally reported that Chock took third place at Joan's Golden Bachelorette season, while Guy was her winner. However, he later corrected himself and confirmed that Chock was Joan's winner.
