Who is Dr. Julian Rush in “The Penguin”?

The lore of Batman has been around since 1939. To this day, the story continues to run as the “Caped Crusader” in the comics, first being adapted for television as a cheesy show starring Adam West as Batman. Eventually, Tim Burton conquered the world of Gotham and built a Gotham City inspired by German Expressionism. From then on, Joel Schumacher's adaptations went back towards campy. Eventually, the Batman adaptations took a darker, more realistic route when Christopher Nolan created his trilogy. When Matt Reeves took on Batman, the characters were darker and more realistic, focusing heavily on the mob, criminals and street chaos of Gotham City.

The Batman was hugely successful, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, two years after he was Batman. The film focuses more on the vigilante in the shadows than on Bruce, who acts more as a dark passenger behind him. The success spawned a show that airs every Sunday on Max the penguin, with an unrecognizable Colin Farrell leading the main character. Sofia Falcone, played by Cristin Milioti, stars alongside Farrell as they both try to rise in Gotham's rise to power. As their origin story expands, Theo Rossi stars as Falcone's psychiatrist Dr. Julian Rush introduced.

It is difficult to determine whether he is malicious and manipulative

At the beginning of the second episode of The penguinSofia Falcone has a dream or hallucination of herself in Arkham Asylum, imprisoned for crimes that will soon be solved. She interacts with her recently deceased brother Alberto Falcone. In the first episode, she mentions to Os that he was the only one to visit her at Arkham Asylum, showing her great sadness over his loss. It is implied that the events in the flashback occurred after his death because his finger is missing in her flashback. It is not yet clear whether Falcone is in court-ordered therapy sessions or whether she has sought therapy herself It is clear that Dr. Rush is in charge.

When Falcone panics, Dr. Rush out what looks like a red light hypnosis machine and tries to gently bring her back to reality. He holds her awkwardly and reminds her to breathe and ground herself in his office. Falcone appears dazed but eventually comes to and suddenly storms out of his office. Whether or not he manipulates her (like Dr. Jonathan Crane, a well-known villain in the Batman world) remains to be seen. As she storms out of the office, Dr. Rush them to return. One thing is certain: Dr. Rush is interested in Sofia's well-being and controls her every move in his office.

The introduction of Theo Rossi as Dr. Julian Rush contains little information, but given his impressive filmography, it is He will definitely play a big role this season of The penguin. Rossi is best known for his roles in Sons of Anarchy And Luke Cage. In Luke CageHe played Hernan “Shades” Alvarez, who worked alongside the series' main villains. While his character was similar to the villains in the series and clashed with Luke Cage several times in the series, in the world of villains he was complicated and contradictory. His character arc continued for essentially the entire duration of the series, just as he did during his time on the series Sons of Anarchy. So it's safe to say that he will play an integral role in Falcone's storyline.

Rossi's filmography is extensive and he has recently been playing major roles in television shows, so he will likely have an extensive role of his own The penguin. The number of villains and character potential in Arkham is huge, so his ties to the infamous asylum represent great potential for his character. Dr. Rush is not a character that existed before the series The penguin. Since he is not a known existing character, he could be one under a different name. He could also be a combination of several villains from Batman history. Given his psychiatric background, he could play a version of “Harley Quinn meets Hugo Strange,” making him a strong contender to play a major villain who will make waves as the season progresses The penguin.

How close are Sofia Falcone and Dr. Julian Rush?

Maybe they have a past or the relationship is one-sided

Julian Rush hugs Sofia Falcone in The Penguin.

At the beginning of the second episode of the penguin, The relationship has an unbalanced attraction on both sides, while Dr. Rush Falcone calms down. Falcone has a brief intimate moment as her cheek Dr. Rush's cheek touches, but once she looks at him, she raises her guard again. The situation could be the Florence Nightingale effect, in which a nurse falls deeply in love with her patient. This theory makes sense because any mention of Falcone's crimes as an “executioner” refers to crimes that would land anyone in prison for a long time. Dr. Rush likely manipulated the system and arranged for Falcone to be rehabilitated through new age therapy such as red light hypnosis. Falcone would readily agree to this just to avoid Arkham Asylum.

Apparently Dr. Rush has some ethical boundaries in the interest of his rehabilitation methods. The intimacy and undertones in his office clearly raise questions about his professionalism and role as a character The penguin. Whatever these unorthodox methods he uses, they work if they succeed in putting Falcone, who has been branded a serial killer, back on the streets. If you look into Dr. Looking around Rush's office, it looks like an average office, but it still feels like there's something more sinister hidden beneath the normality. In Batman beginsDr. Crane appears as a real psychiatrist, but is soon revealed to be a scarecrow. Episode two intentionally leaves the audience in the dark about Dr. Rush, leaving plenty of options for what his character is capable of.

Whether Dr. Rush has rehabilitated Sofia Falcone remains to be seen The penguin. Whenever she eats, she eats almost like an animal. In the first episode, titled “After Hours,” she captures Cobb and questions him. She asks him if she's too emotional, has an overactive imagination, and if she shouldn't take things so personally. This all sounds like she's repeating psychiatric rhetoric about her past behavior, probably said by Dr. Rush. Either he is a master manipulator for his own gain, or he is legitimately in love with Falcone, like Harleen Quinzell and the Joker in Batman. It's hard to say whether Falcone is interested in either one or not. However, she will likely use it to her advantage as long as it keeps her out of Arkham Asylum.

Two episodes later the penguin, The power struggle is intensifying. Falcone wants to form an alliance with Cobb, not realizing how much Cobb is working against them. Both are trying their best to get to the top of the crime empire and are willing to do anything, even if it inconveniences their potential rivals. Even in the first two episodes, fans can see that both have no problem getting their hands dirty to get what they want. Falcone is willing to deceive her own family because they show her no respect at every step she makes. As for Cobb, he will ally with either side to emerge victorious. As the season progresses, there will be a showdown between them and probably the mafia families on the show.

Variety mentioned that on Sunday The penguin was seen by 1.6 million people on HBO and Max. Exploring Batman is not a new feat. However, when Matt Reeves did The Batmanit felt the freshest, which was still consistent with Batman's history. What did The penguin What's great is that it's a mafia story and the originality is retained within a heavily trafficked storyline. It even feels that way The sopranosa prestige television show from HBO. In the penguin, Os' name differs slightly from the original lore, as does his mob status. For the rest of the season, expect reinvented characters with new and original beginnings that will continue Oswald Cobb's chaotic rise to power.
