The chase and standoff began after the woman taken into custody in Autauga County allegedly shot someone while chasing her ex-boyfriend to the police station in Bellaire, Texas, officials said.

According to Bellaire police, dispatchers received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. Friday reporting that a woman in a Mercedes SUV was following a group of people in a Ford truck.

The occupants of the Ford reported that the woman was the ex-girlfriend of a passenger and was believed to be armed with a handgun.

The Ford truck pulled up to the Bellaire Police Department at 5110 Jessamine, apparently hoping to avoid a confrontation with the woman, police officers there said.

When two Bellaire police officers arrived in marked patrol cars to meet with the occupants of the Ford, the suspect walked around the passenger side of the truck and fired several shots at the passenger.

A Bellaire police officer shot at the suspect vehicle as the suspect drove around the truck again.

The suspect then sped off westbound on Jessamine toward Chimney Rock.

Officers provided medical aid to the victim in the Ford truck that had been struck multiple times. He was then transported to Ben Taub Hospital in serious condition.
