Ekeler, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound product from Windsor, Colorado, is currently at the top of the depth chart.

Senior security colleagues Isaac White (Foot/ankle) is dressed but will only play in an emergency, the same source said. Wrook Brown will return to the nickel spot after playing safety in last week's 27-24 loss to San Diego State.

Also hearing guards Jack Walsh And Wes Kingwho practiced this week will try out against the Spartans. Redshirt freshman Quinn Grovesteen Matchey is listed on the depth chart as the starting left guard. Rex Johnsen is still marked as starter on the right.

Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel said last Monday he was expecting a weakside linebacker Connor Shay missed due to a shoulder injury. The senior is also currently listed in today's starting eleven.

Wyoming (1-5, 1-1) and San Jose State (4-2, 2-1) are scheduled to kick off today at 2 p.m. at CEFCU Stadium. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

FOREPLAY:

* According to numerous locals I spoke to on the way to the stadium, it is unusually warm in San Jose today. It's a beautiful 23 degrees and there isn't a cloud in the sky.

* Wyoming will rock its brown pants today for the first time since the season opener at Arizona State. It's a nice contrast to the Spartans' yellow pants.

* It's homecoming at San Jose State. You would never be able to tell from the size of the crowd. So far, there are dozens of people in attendance at CEFCU Stadium.

* Fullback Caleb Driskill is in kicking coverage with a cast on his right hand. You guessed it – thumbs.

FIRST QUARTER:

* Eget goes straight to Wyett Ekeler with the long ball. The Pokes senior struck with a PI.

* Eget to Nash for 21 on a 3rd-and-9. We'll probably hear that a lot today

* That was way too easy. Terrible tackling, poor angles too. Chalk up a 39-yard shot.

*This was a 5-play, 75-yard drive that lasted a total of 1:15 minutes. SJSU 7 Wyoming0 1:45 p.m./ 1Q

* Offensive line with great defense on 3rd and 5th. Svoboda hits Gyllenborg for a 19-yard gain.

*Big 4th down pickup right there for Svoboda. Pokes drives here, down to SJSU 33

* Sam Scott came up short on a 4th-and-1. You have to make up a yard. You just have to do it.

* Tyrecus Davis comes screaming off the edge and blocks the field goal. Pokes will take the lead here with their own 29.

* Svoboda hits Durr on the 3rd and 9th balls at the UW 43

* Jamari Ferrell, with arguably his best run of the season – 14 yards – is then penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for talking nonsense on the sidelines. Incredible .

* Wyoming had the ball for 10:04 minutes in the first quarter. The visitors were also 2-of-4 on third down and converted a fourth down

SECOND QUARTER:

* Pokes cannot reach third place and less than one near midfield. Why they don't stick with Svoboda following Scott into the hole I'll never know. Scott was caught dancing in the backfield waiting for a hole to open up.

* *FUMBLE* Tyrecus Davis with another big play. This time he catches SJSU QB Walker Eget and forces the fumble after a 32-yard run. Pokes takes over at their own 8. This is the third turnover of the season for this D

* Really poor possession for the visitors. Jack Culbreath hits a 31-yarder from his own end zone. SJSU takes on the 36 in Wyoming. Really ugly few minutes here from the Cowboys

* It feels like it's 30-0

* *INTERCEPTION* Guess who? Wyett Ekeler, with two broken thumbs, fends off Eget's lob. Pokes takes over on 23. SJSU 7 Wyoming 0 8:49/ 2Q

* *FUMBLE* SJSU is trying like hell to give the Cowboys this game. Carson York jumps for change at the SJ 35 after the botched punt. That's three turnovers for the Spartans today with 6:07 left in the first half

* A screen pass on 3rd-and-16 results in a 10-yard loss. Now the Cowboys are out of FG range. Svoboda needs to learn when the game is DOA. That was. The ball should never have been thrown.

* These Spartans' offense started at their own 3. One pass later, they are at midfield. Eget to Lockhart for 47. We've reached the 2 minute warning.

* Wyoming had just 102 yards of total offense in this game – 37 passing, 65 rushing – despite forcing three turnovers. SJSU 7 Wyoming 0 2:00/ 2Q

* Nick Nash with the far too easy touchdown mistake from 17 yards out. This is the former QB's 11th touchdown of the season. With 21 ticks remaining in the half, the Cowboys give up seven. SJSU 14 Wyoming 0

* This was an 11-play, 97-yard drive that lasted just 1:52. Eget to Nash from 17 yards out.

*This offense needs a spark. SJSU wasn't afraid to move on from Emmett Brown. Wyoming shouldn't think twice about using Anderson here in the second half.

THIRD QUARTER:

* Welp, Svoboda has his helmet on and is warming up. Not Anderson

* SJSU is met here by a private investigator. That saves the Cowboys with a 3rd-and-12.

* *INTERCEPTION* Wrook Brown picks up the batted ball. This is turnover No. 4 for the Spartans. Eget was picked up twice. SJSU 14 Wyoming 0 10:18/ 3Q

* Connor Shay is credited with the tip ball that Brown picked up.

* Consecutive finishes for Svoboda. He beat TK King for 16 and now Gyllenborg for 22. Pokes are inside the SJSU 20

* *TOUCHDOWN* Beautiful pitch and catch from Svoboda to Stevenson. That looked right. The Cowboys are finally in the game. SJSU 14 Wyoming 7 8:33/ 3Q

* That was an 18-yard connection from Svoboda to Stevenson. This enabled a 5-play, 55-yard drive. Cowboys finally take advantage of a turnover.

* Lockhart just dusted Tyrecus Davis. Another big winner for the Spartans. That was good for 57 and they are in business at 9

* Nick Nash just scored a sure touchdown. The Cowboys will actually force a FG attempt here.

* SJSU scores a 26-yard field goal. This was a 6-play, 66-yard drive with 2:25 remaining. SJSU 17 Wyoming 7 6:08/3Q

* Svoboda missed a wide-open Will Pelissier on that 3rd-and-5. When he finally made it, the SJSU defenders were on him and the catch was out of bounds. The opportunity was missed.

* Tyrecus Davis almost intercepts a slanted pass. Pokes will come off the field here and defeat the Spartans with a three-and-out. This will be the home team's first punt of the day

* Svoboda finds Durr all alone in the middle. That's a gain of 40. Just nudge the SJ 40 like that

* Another bug that doesn't show up in the final stats. Four Wyoming players were at the goal line for this punt. Everyone watches the ball bounce into the end zone. Can't happen. Emmett Brown is now the QB for the Spartans. He has more than 1,500 passing yards and 16 touchdowns

FOURTH QUARTER:

POKES: The seven best games in the history of the Wyoming-CSU Border War rivalry (of course, they were all Wyoming wins)
