Yankees news: Anthony Volpe's grand slam sets postseason record

MLB | Do-Hyoung Park: Anthony Volpe's grand slam in Game 4 was more than the hit that kept the Yankees alive for another day. It was also the Yankees' first World Series slam since Tino Martinez's electrifying bomb in Game 1 of the 1998 World Series, as well as their sixth grand slam of the 2024 playoffs, a postseason record. The most recent event, of course, was Freddie Freeman breaking the Yankees' back in Game 1, so Volpe's slam also erased some hard feelings from the fan base's collective mouth.

Last night, his daughter Jaymie won the title of Top Daughter by surprising Joe, now 84, with tickets to his first-ever World Series game. Baal, who had long since retired as a firefighter and gone to Florida, returned to New York after 9/11 to help rebuild the city. He spent the next nearly two decades in the FDNY. Fantastic story.

New York Post | Michael Blinn: Game 4 didn't start well for the Yankees or their fans. After falling behind early in the first, Gleyber Torres threw a ball down the right field line into foul zone, which ended before the home half. Two fans decided to attack Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts, with one holding Betts' wrist while the other broke open the outfielder's glove and pulled out the ball. Torres was forced out due to fan interference and our two geniuses were escorted out of Yankee Stadium. Womp womp.
