YouTube Gold: The Brotherhood Gathers

As Duke fans know, Blue Devil legend JJ Redick took over as head coach of the LA Lakers in July and is busy making the Lakers a respectable force again.

So far LA is 0-2, but it's still preseason so it doesn't matter yet.

The Lakers played Phoenix on Sunday night, and that means brotherhood galore: Not only was Redick a coach, Cam Reddish is also a Laker, and the Suns boast Mason Plumlee, Grayson Allen and the recently signed Tyus Jones. Here are some highlights from the game.

Fun fact: Allen helped recruit Jones to the Valley and was willing to come off the bench because he knew his old teammate would make the Suns better.

Another fun fact: Lindsay Harding, a sorority member, is on Redick's staff.

Someone asked Redick about Laker Rui Hachimura and whether he was ready to take “the next step.”

This is how it went:

Reporter: “Do you think Rui could take the next step for you?”

JJ: “What’s the next step?”

Reporter: “Tell me?”

JJ: “Tell me, you create the narrative. What's the next step? I don't care what the next step is for Rui. I care about the impact he has on our team winning and for me, this is my next step and I think he can do it.”

Does this remind you of anyone?

For his part, Hachimura seems pretty happy with Redick, saying, “He was just in the league. He knows exactly what is happening in the league. It’s easy for us to understand…whatever he says just makes sense.”

The first and most important step for Redick is for his players to have confidence in him. So far, so good.
